About the event:
Join us on the first Thursday of every month for a creative and supportive art session in a confidential, non-judgmental space. No prior art experience is needed—just an open mind! Each session begins with individual art-making, guided by themes such as identity, emotions, and relationships, with a special focus on womanhood and mental well-being. All materials are provided, with sustainability in mind. In the second half of the session, participants can share and reflect on their artwork, encouraging personal growth, self-exploration, and community connection.
About the facilitators:
On 3rd July – Guest Facilitator – Lucinda Walker
Bio:
Lucinda Walker studied fine art and textile design in California. She teaches art, sewing, and quilting workshops, emphasising community connectedness, sustainability, and intuitive creativity. She lives in Edinburgh, UK where she studies Art Psychotherapy to direct her future work toward helping others access creative play and self-expression.
- 3rd July: Art Theme for this session:
A Kind Inner Voice
Identify the voice of your inner critic and invite an alternative voice into your consciousness, one that is unconditionally supportive, kind, and loving. We will use a variety of arts and crafts materials, including fabric and paper collage, to represent this kind inner voice.
Usual facilitators
Gabriela & Bianca
Gabriella is an artist and art psychotherapy student specializing in representations of women, nature, and landscapes. She integrates her artistic practice into community work, supporting young adults with learning disabilities through creative expression. Her approach emphasizes self-expression, creative freedom, and the balance between individual needs and group dynamics.
Bianca is a former kindergarten teacher who shifted her focus to supporting adults, driven by a desire to foster growth beyond early childhood. She uses art as a tool for emotional exploration and self-acceptance, encouraging creativity without judgment. Bianca is passionate about the value of hobbies, the healing power of nature, and its impact on well-being. Her work is grounded in themes of sisterhood, women’s health, and the ways people perceive the world.
About Donations:
Participation in our community-led events is on a voluntary ‘by donation’ basis. This means that nobody is expected to make a payment if they cannot afford to do so.
Any donations received will be shared between the Centre and the facilitator, helping to make the events’ programme sustainable as well as to provide some reciprocity towards community facilitators’ time and skills offered.
Where a “suggested donation” is listed, this is just an indication of what the event might cost if it was ticketed.
This is an invitation to practice ‘Dana’ (generosity) – please pay only what you can afford to attend.
