Hello! My name is Marta and I’m thrilled to join The Salisbury Centre staff team!
After so much the Centre has offered me as a volunteer, community facilitator, and resident in the past few years, I’m hoping that working here will allow me to give back and nurture the community in all the ways that it has nurtured me!
My main excitement about my role (Community Development Lead and Volunteer Coordinator) is that I’ll be working with other community members, helping them develop skills and confidence in various areas. My background is in cultural studies, psychology, and relational work, and I’m hoping I’ll put it to good use at the Salisbury Centre. Much of my work happens through building authentic communication skills and and relationships. I have been running the Authentic Connection Group at The Salisbury Centre since 2021 and I’m hoping to use what I learned there in my months and (hopefully) years to come at The Centre!
Before I came to Edinburgh, I lived in Poland and France – a good chunk of that time in the countryside. That’s when I started developing reverence for community, and became interested in living locally, being closer to neighbours and Nature, and growing my own food. I also learned a lot about my own mind through meditation practice in those years. When I arrived in Edinburgh in 2020, the time has come to start using that knowledge by showing up in my relationships in new ways! I also became a writer and share my learnings through my Connection Hub newsletter.
If you’re interested in volunteering at The Salisbury Centre or want to start your own community group and need support – email me on [email protected]! I hope to see you around 🙂
